The birthday bash

Well the birthday came and went. Can you
believe it!!?? One year old twins!!! I tried putting the pics in order, but my comp kept crashing, so here they are just plopped in randomly. We had a surprise visit from a couple of Teletubbies. Tula was overjoyed, Junior pretty apprehensive about meeting their favourite TV personalities in real life. Cake time was also pretty fun. Each one of the twins got their own - I thought they would go all out and just dive in, but they were really careful, trying it with the fork or at the most one little finger. No face mashed into the cake ...

Tula walking

On march 11th Tula walked for the first time!! Not just a little one step deal, but the length of the room. She was soooo excited - you can see how happy she is in this video. This is late afternoon after she had been practicing for a few hours, so she's pretty tired, but still trying. I don't know who was more excited, her, Babcia or us...

So we've had a little break - not only in blogging, but generally in the kids development. We all got sick with some viral bug. It all started with Tula, then Junior, then the both of us. Of course the kids took it the worst and were pretty out of it for a few days. Today has been a much better day and I think they'll be back on track by tomorrow. So here goes with the promised videos.

Before we all got sick Tula was all over the place. She's been experimenting also with letting go of our fingers or the furniture when walking!!! I can't wait until they are both cruising all on her own.

Something's not right here...

So our dog, Inka, waits for the kids to finish eating and then neatly cleans up everything after them. Junior has just finished and so has Inka with his highchair. She's now waiting on Tula...

Junior and a little bit of Tula

Tula has started helping me with laundry. She sits next to a pile of clothes and one by one moves each piece to her other side. When the pile on her other side gets big, she starts moving the pile back to the other side... and so on for about 10-15 blissful minutes. Junior has learned to give kisses - he grabs my face with both his little hands and plants a big sloppy kiss right on my mouth - very cute :)
And one more - Tula has started sharing her food. She picked it up when I took a bite of her cracker while she was holding it. She liked it so much, that she kept giving me more bites. Then she gave Junior bites, Daddy bites, Babcia bites.... Just waiting for her to figure out that the dog will eat it all up (and get fatter and fatter - so far she's eating everything that falls on the floor).

A little update

Junior is finally sitting up on his own. He's even trying to pull himself up into a standing position. Tula has been on her feet for a couple of weeks. Recently she's started to try standing without holding on to anything. Any day now they'll be running around the house.
Both are showing all of their front teeth and biting on everything. And both are into the mommy phase - no one but mommy. It would be really cool if I didn't have to go to work. Tula has started to fall asleep on me, which is so warm and fuzzy and nice that I can't not let her do it even though I'm probably setting myself up for trouble. Oh well.

Tula's first real big fat lip (look at the upper lip). There was blood and crying and ice packs - the works!

Milestones

Two days ago the twins finally started to 'play' together. They sit across from each other and giggle. I don't know what they're giggling about, but they're having a great time. They also do it in their cribs (instead of sleeping during nap time). So I guess this is the beginning of the 'twins against the rest of the world'.

Also - Tula is finally showing some teeth! The first is the first top left. No way for me to take a picture though, she's just not showing it. Mostly she keeps her thumb in her mouth! Junior is working on his bottom teeth now.

It's really there!! It took a few days to appear and was a big pain for all! Strangest of all is that I think it's the third incisor on top.
